Congratulations Pat on being recognized as 2020 Outstanding Service Award recipient by the Samoyed Association of Canada!

Pat has lived with and been involved with Samoyeds for almost 45 years.

Pat’s got her first Samoyed in 1976 and continues to have Samoyeds today. Under their Sancha Samoyeds kennel name, Pat and her husband, Paul, have bred over 75 Champion Samoyeds to date, many owner-handled.

Her interest in the breed has always being directed towards the health and care of the breed. She has dedicated herself to always be learning, to help others and to safeguard the future of the Samoyed.

As a breeder, Pat has always kept track of her puppies and being there for the owners no matter how old the dog is or what the issue is. Her breeding program has been guided by health and temperament in the breed. She rejoices in celebrating with you on your and your dog’s accomplishments and is there to share your tears when saying good-bye. In April 2013, Pat was granted Master Breeder status by the Canadian Kennel Club.

Pat keeps up to date with emerging medical issues and shares this knowledge with the Samoyed world. She is honest and upfront to discuss problems in the breed. Pat has been involved with Samoyed rescue in western Canada and liaises with others to ensure dogs are successfully placed in new forever homes.

Pat starting showing Samoyeds in 1978 – and was hooked with that satin ribbon! Pat has been honoured to win Best in Shows, Best Puppy in Shows, and many Group wins and placements with their dogs. She did obedience with their dogs and attained a CDX on her first Sam. Pat completed a Grand Champion Excellent title on her veteran girl Kelsa, the first time this title awarded to a Samoyed bitch in Canada. They have also worked their Samoyeds in harness, sledding, ski-joring, and herding.

Pat has always been willing to step up and help promote Samoyeds. Over the years she had dedicated a lot of time, hard work and support to the Club. Because of this support, specialties and boosters have been held over the many years. Pat has been involved with hosting the SAC National on the West Coast now five times.

She is a Samoyed Association of Canada Life Member and has held a number of positions on its board including Regional Director and President and is currently co-editor of Sammy News. She is a founding member of Western Canada Samoyed Club and helped found the now defunct Samoyed Fanciers of Vancouver Island. She is a Life Member of the CKC.

In 2007, Pat applied for her Conformation judging permit and now is a CKC Conformation judge for several groups.
