Pack Hike

Pack Hike Requirements

Only SAC members are eligible to apply for these titles.  Application is made through the SAC member website.

Levels

First Level

Minimum 5 km hike
· Requires 20 pack hikes
·  Any hikes less than double count as 1 hike, e.g., 5 km = 1 hike; 8 km = 1 hike; 10 km = 2 hikes
·  Does not include short walks, multiple times.

Second Level

First Level plus minimum 8 km hike
· Requires 20 pack hikes
·  Any hikes less than double count as 1 hike, e.g., 8 km = 1 hike; 12 km= 1 hike; 16 km = 2 hikes
·  Does not include short walks, multiple times.

Third Level

First and Second Level plus minimum 10 km hike.
· Requires 20 pack hikes
· Any hikes less than double count as 1 hike, e.g., 10 km = 1 hike; 15 km = 1 hike; 20 km = 2 hikes
· Does not include short walks, multiple times.

 

Pack Weight

At the beginning of the hike, the dog’s pack must be 25% of the dog’s weight. Items such as water and food may be consumed during the hike and the weight of those items do not have to be replaced.

Terrain

Hikes should be over natural terrain, such as  hiking trails.
