Samoyeds Available for Adoption

Updated 12 September 2025

Please note that, although the Sam may not be able to go to its new home until the date mentioned, applications can be made immediately.  If you need more information, please contact rescue@samoyed.ca.

Also, SAC Rescue will not ship the dogs (they have been through enough already) and because their backgrounds are unknown, we cannot provide health or other guarantees.

*CHARLIE*      →
‘High Activity Boy’ alert here! He needs to be kept busy all the time!
Charlie is reactive to other dogs while in crate, BUT this behaviour is getting better as he learns boundaries and rules of personal space.
He is extremely food motivated and is protective of his food towards other dogs. No aggression or resource guarding behaviour around humans. He still would mark occasionally but removing all physical objects he can mark from his kennel seemed to help and we have been accident-free for more than a week.
He is friendly and social with humans, and good with kids. However, he will jump excessively when excited and might nibble or mouth if overly stimulated or excited.
On high note he looks for human interaction and social cues. He is good on leash if there are no distractions around him.
His ideal family would be one with a female dog or preferably no dog at all. His main challenge at his potential new home would be learning to respect rules and boundaries. High activity home would be a must!
←     ROSIE*
Rosie is a dominant but sweet girl. Once she settled in, her free-spirited temperament shone through.
We mastered the potty routine with one exception; once she has anything in her kennel like a blanket, bed (soft or raised tried both) she will urinate on it. Otherwise, she is content.
She learned to eat out of food bowl rather than out of treat toy. She has no resource guarding and is no longer possessive of her personal space. She is still reactive to other dogs and people but in the Samoyed friendly way of expressing herself through loud barking.
She is friendly with humans, good at the grooming table and good on leash after the initial 10 minutes of zoomies!
She will be best suited for active home with or without children. Preferably with a male dog or no dogs at all – because of her dominant temperament she wants to lead the pack and can put other dogs in “place” which can lead to unwanted aggressive triggers and behaviour.

If you cannot commit to adoption, but are interested in fostering a dog, most of the dogs listed here are in need of fostering until a permanent home can be found.  If you can help, please fill out the form linked at the bottom of the Rescue page and indicate your interest in becoming a foster home.

And of course, donations to Rescue are always appreciated.  Donation information can also be found near the bottom of the SAC rescue page.
